10 Signs that You’re a Multidisciplinary Creative

If you’ve ever wondered what a multidisciplinary creative is or if you are one, take a look at the list of 10 signs that you’re a multidisciplinary creative below. Check them out and see how many of them apply to you.

10 Signs that You’re a Multidisciplinary Creative

  • You’re constantly coming up with new ideas for projects and things you want to create. Sometimes you even wake up in the middle of the night and ideas rush through your mind. Perhaps you even dream about the things you want to create (it’s happened to me more than once).

  • You are a natural problem solver since creativity is your wheelhouse. You already have an understanding of how things work and can therefore solve a multitude of problems that show up.

  • You already have a multitude of hobbies, but that new one that piqued your curiosity can easily be added to the list.

  • You can’t choose just one thing. Whether hobbies, projects to work on, career paths, etc., it’s impossible to pick just one.

  • You lose track of time when you create. You get so deep into what you do that several hours have passed when you finally look at the clock. Sometimes you might’ve even forgotten to eat or sleep.

  • You’ve switched education/career/business a lot. Perhaps you switched majors at college and/or you jumped between jobs every so often, and/or you’ve started and shut down several businesses (or had multiple businesses running a once).

  • You’ve been called flaky and/or lazy. It’s common for non-multidisciplinary creatives to see our “jumping around” as flaky and our “inability to accomplish anything substantial” as lazy. But, truth be told, we’re just honing our creative muscles to become better at what we do. We’re learning the lessons we need to be able to create what we want to create.

  • You feel like something is missing when you don’t create. Deep down, you feel a yearning to create. You need to express yourself through your creations. And when you don’t, you feel empty an/or lost.

  • You learn new skills fast because you know what it’s like to learn a new skill from scratch. You’ve done it so many times already.

  • You’re constantly learning new things because it’s fun and it adds another skill to your toolbelt.

Now, I’d like to hear from you…
